9 March 2021: Governor Cuomo Tries to Rally Support Among NY Lawmakers

Cuomo Scrambles For Support From NY Lawmakers: REPORT

Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is scrambling to stop lawmakers from calling for his resignation, sources familiar with the matter told The City.

Five women have accused Cuomo of sexual misconduct, prompting Republican New York lawmakers to introduce a resolution to impeach the embattled New York governor. Cuomo faces two separate investigations: one into his workplace behavior by the attorney general's office, and another from the Department of Justice into his role in undercounting nursing home deaths in New York.

On Sunday, Cuomo spent time calling lawmakers to convince them not to issue statements calling for his resignation, sources told The City. Cuomo reportedly argued that statements calling for his resignation would negatively impact state Attorney General Letitia James's investigation into his conduct.

Governor Cuomo doesn't seem to think much of the state Attorney General office's ability to remain impartial in its investigations of him and his administration, nor its desire to continue deferring to his authority.
