- 1 resident dead, firefighter missing in massive blaze at New York senior living facility
-
We now have an unfortunate datapoint to evaluate Governor Cuomo's claim that putting coronavirus-infected patients into a nursing home could see cases and deaths spread "like fire in dry grass". In this report, a multi-alarm fire that raged through a New York senior living facility caused the death of one resident, while all other residents survived (although have been displaced).
By comparison, the Cuomo administration's 25 March 2020 directive contributed to hundreds, if not thousands, of additional COVID-19 deaths among elderly nursing home residents than would have died had it not been mandated.
