Sources: Cuomo digs in to fight harassment accusations; staff deflated, exhausted

This article describes the bunker mentality that has developed within Team Cuomo:

"They are still dug in," one source said. "In his mind they are not cases of sexual harassment. That's what's going on in his mind."

The source is among four former Cuomo executive chamber staffers who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they aren't authorized to speak about private conversations in the chamber. Cuomo has been accused by six women — three of them former Cuomo staffers — of unwanted sexual advances....

Inside the executive chamber, one source described Cuomo's closest staff as exhausted and deflated. Other sources have described a "toxic" work culture, particularly for young women, of oppressive work hours and demands followed by "being read the riot act" for mistakes.

The article goes into considerable detail about how staffers view the sexual harassment allegations and their work environemnt.

But it's very telling that not a word of the administation's COVID nursing home deaths scandal was spoken by any of the Cuomo administration staffers in their interviews for the article. We think it likely their silence reflects the understanding that the careers of many members of Team Cuomo would effectively end if they truthfully acknowledged their roles in the implementation and enforcement of those policies.
