- Assembly leaders on ongoing impeachment investigation
-
This report follows the New York Assembly's Republican minority party members' 11 May 2021 complaints about the status of the Assembly Judiciary Committee's impeachment probe, which they characterize as moving at very slow speed without visible signs of progress. Judiciary Committee chair Charles Levine responded to that complaint today:
Assemblymember Charles Lavine, the Democrat who chairs the Judiciary, responded to NEWS10:
“The investigation is progressing with all due and deliberate speed. I am very pleased with extraordinary work of Davis Polk Wardwell."
Thus leaving the substance of criticism of the impeachment probe Lavine is "running" completely unanswered. It's another example of why many independent observers think the Assembly's impeachment probe is little more than a 'sham'.
