21 August 2021: Cuomo's Chief PR Flack Authors New Hit Piece

Gov. Cuomo has been railroaded: The governor’s adviser says the attorney general’s report is a sham

Richard Azzopardi has often unintentionally presented himself as many things, including tone deaf, misogynistic, and something of a conspiracy theorist among other undesirable characteristics.

All these revealed character flaws combine in a new op-ed/hit piece featured in the Friday, 20 August 2021 edition of the New York Daily News. Here's his introduction:

The last few weeks have been trying. COVID has returned with a vengeance, the Taliban has taken back Afghanistan, and yes, we are about to change administrations in Albany.

Events have been moving so quickly, few people have bothered to examine how we got here. With respect to the impending transition of power in the state Capitol, the answer is simple: Gov. Cuomo was railroaded.

Azzopardi then launches into a series of smear attacks of the kind that prompted rebuke by the chair of the NY Assembly's judiciary committee overseeing the Assembly's impeachment probe just one month ago. In our view, Azzopardi's comments come across as tone-deaf, misogynistic, and smack of conspiracy theory, which really ramps up in the op-ed's conclusion:

The fix was in and an election was overturned on flimsy evidence and twisted process. Whatever you think of Andrew Cuomo, that is a loss for values we are supposed to cherish. Also, mark my words: Tish James will be announcing a run for governor within months.

Azzopardi has also revealed a weird fetish of accusing all Cuomo critics of secretly running for governor. We think that's part of the schtick that goes along with his conspiracy theorist characteristics.
