- Poll: Only one-third of voters say Cuomo should run again
-
According to a Siena College poll, 23% of New Yorkers say Andrew M. Cuomo should resign immediately. An additional 39% want his current third term in office to be his last. In terms of fractions, that's five out of eight New Yorkers who are saying Andrew M. Cuomo should not run for a fourth term as New York's Governor.
But that doesn't mean the other 38% of New Yorkers want him to run for a fourth term. It's actually less than that, with just 33% saying that, in a state were Governor Cuomo is the dominant statewide political figure.
Here's a brief excerpt from this report describing the poll's other results:
The poll also finds voters approve the governor’s handling of the pandemic. Specifically, voters say Cuomo did a good job on managing vaccines, keeping New Yorkers informed, and reopening the state.
However, voters say Cuomo did a bad job, addressing questions about his handling of nursing homes.
Since Cuomo scandal news is now mostly paced by legal developments, which means it's being driven by people who don't work on weekends, much less long holiday weekends, we don't anticipate much news out of Cuomoland for the next several days. If anything does pop up, we'll pass it along as it happens, but we will take advantage of the expected lack of news to focus on fleshing out events in the historical timeline.
